Perhaps one of the hardest parts of consciously connecting is making the time to do it. Often we have so much going on in our daily lives that if we don't set a little time aside to go within and connect to our hearts we forget to do it. The following tips are those I use to remain focused so that I am consciously making an effort to connect at least once every day.
- Set aside the same time every day. I am more of a morning person, so I find it is best for me to use the morning for my daily meditation time. Time of day is really not important. Perhaps your lunch hour works, or maybe it is easiest before bedtime. What is most important is that you take the same time every day. After a while, you will find you don't even have to think about doing it. It becomes a natural part of your day.
- Have a focal point. I personally like to light a candle (usually a tealight in my favorite selenite crystal tealight holder) and turn on soft, peaceful music. This is another cue my body uses to stop and think, "It is time to consciously connect." My mind will still wander some, but having a focal point can interrupt the wandering process and bring me back into focus. You might look at an inspirational picture, hold a coin or worry stone, or even just sit in the same chair in a quiet corner to help you remember you are taking the time to connect.
- Don't judge your daily practice. Sometimes nothing big happens. My mind will wander and I will feel like my time is being wasted as I have so many other things I need to do. Some days are just like that. The point here is to not let yourself think nothing is happening. You are doing something for yourself! Allow yourself to acknowledge you are important and deserve this time set aside for you!!!
We all have ups and downs in our daily lives. Even those of us who usually feel connected have those days when we feel we aren't. Understand those days come and go. What makes the difference is allowing yourself the time and space every day to connect to the wisdom and truth of your own heart. By making this a part of your daily routine, you will find yourself able to remember to ask your heart when questions and doubts come up during other times of the day.
Make the effort to connect daily! You are worth it!!!
