Fasting For Breakthrough

There is no doubt we are in process of change. As I struggle to make sense of shifting energies, I also realize I am not personally where I need to be at a spiritual level. I feel the need to be more in tune--more connected--than I have ever been in order to meet the coming challenges.

Last night, I made the decision to begin fasting for a personal breakthrough. Beginning today, I am giving up sugar (one of my biggest downfalls), at least for the foreseeable future. In past I have found it not only makes me feel better, but also clears my head. I will also limit my time on social media and other activities that distract me from focusing on what my heart leads me to do in the now.

Intention is key with fasting. The simple act of limiting certain aspects of your life--especially activities that weigh you down--can free your body and mind from those ruts we often find ourselves in. You do need to be sincere in your efforts, however. If you forget and go back to an activity you were fasting from, don't beat yourself up over it. Begin again. The benefits will still be there.

Depending on what you fast from, there will be various withdrawal side effects. For example, when I have fasted from sugar in the past I get really cranky for the first few days as the Candida die off and cry out for the sugar I am not giving them. Cravings can be intense. After a week, cravings are much easier to control, and after two or three weeks they are almost nonexistent as you adapt to the changes. Note that you will always miss whatever it is you are giving up initially. However, as you fill your body and mind up with new activities there will be new insights as you are able to see new perspectives.

If you find yourself in a place where you are not receiving the answers you are looking for, consider doing some fasting of your own. Look at your life and notice where your focus is. Anything that gets in the way of what your heart tells you to do is a distraction. You will probably be able to see things more clearly if you intentionally choose to give that activity up for a while.

We all need answers as the energies change. Make sure you are prepared to meet the challenges that are coming. Consider fasting as a way to ground yourself and get more clear. You may just receive new insights and understandings that help you navigate the changing world!
