We Are All In This Together

I recently came across someone on social media through a friend who carries an interesting energy. He claimed to be a "lightworker", yet he was so full of judgment and arrogance I could tell he carried a good deal of unacknowledged darkness. That is not to say he did not also carry light. He did. He is just not quite as evolved as he believed himself to be.

I noticed a lot of competing energies in him. On the one hand, he had some understanding of the fact that we are all One and are not separate. On the other hand, his understanding of being One was everybody needed to subscribe to his way of thinking because he was right. Every other word was a judgement. Most of what he did and said perpetuated separation.

When I pointed out the judgment and separation, I became the one he judged. I became the one whose darkness he analyzed. I chose not to respond to this personal attack. He was correct in many respects, on top of the fact that he was obviously reacting to my pointing out of his judgment. In other words, I triggered him. As I did not want to continue on in that energy, I let it go. That said, when I failed to engage him in the fight, he went on and attacked someone else. At that point, I blocked him, mostly for my own peace of mind. I do not care to be part of his attacks on others. (He triggered my fight for the underdog instincts. LOL!)

The past several years, I have been working on analyzing and releasing my own judgement. I have been able to let go of many of the judgments I was programmed with through the circumstances of my birth. I am a work in progress. I still have a long way to go before I am able to allow everything that exists without fighting it.

As humans living in this 3D reality, it is easy for us to get lost in the fight. We are taught there is a distinct "right" and "wrong" and that it is important to choose what is "right" and resist all that is "wrong". The problem with this way of doing things is the vast majority of these judgments are subjective and dependent upon the cultures that promote them. When we make the decision to join in the judgment, we choose to stay separate from anyone who does not think like we do.

We are here to play, to learn, to expand in ways that would not be possible outside of separation. This is why we choose to come to such a dark and dense place. The energy of unconditional love is what keeps us connected. It is only when we remember this love that we begin to learn and grow in the ways we intended. We are much stronger and learn much more quickly when we ignore the separation and choose to love without limits. When we make the choice to lift up our fellow BEings, we also lift up ourselves. We are all in this together.

Trigger Points Can Change Your Life!

You find yourself proceeding normally in the everyday routine of your life when, suddenly, something happens to set you off. You might feel angered or hurt over someone else's belief, whether it effects you personally or not. You may have undeservedly received the harsh end of someone else's pain. Regardless of what happened, you were left with all sorts of extreme emotions to handle. I call these incidents trigger points, and if you choose to let them they have the power to change your life!

Emotions, especially strong ones, are your body's way of letting you know an issue is trying to make itself known to you. Emotions are awarenesses coming to the surface. This is why certain people and situations always set us off (and why they may happen repeatedly if you don't understand it the first time). Emotions grab your attention and say, "There is something here for you to learn!"

Trigger points become situations where our fight or flight responses come out. We either fight and make the situation worse or we run away, not understanding that in both instances the problems come back later, often more aggressively. By taking the time to reflect on the situation (before fighting or running away), it is possible to learn what the situation is trying to teach you.

I'll give you an example. I have this extremely good friend that I would occasionally get into arguments with. Often these fights were so bad he would cut me off for a period of time. After this had happened a few times, I got wise and asked why this kept happening when I cared about him so much. As soon as I asked the question, I got this vision of what I now understand to be a past lifetime.

In that lifetime, I was the head high priestess in an ancient temple and my friend was the lead general in an army that conquered the city I lived in. Part of what the army would do to psychologically control the conquered people is to take over all religious structures, and this is how we met. Even though it was all meant to be done in a cold and methodical way, he ended up falling in love with me as I did with him. He even wanted to marry me, but I drew the line at that because I felt I would be betraying my people by taking on that symbolic commitment to him. We have been fighting ever since.

Once I saw this, it put my modern day relationship with this friend into perspective. I was able to see we both had a need to be right and we both had a need to be in control. I became much more aware of my interactions with my friend from that time forward, and I'm happy to say it has become much better as I let go of my need to be in control.

I am not saying you need to see a past life to deal with present day issues. Sometimes when you ask the question you receive common sense sort of information that helps you gain new insights and understandings. The key here is to ask the question! Questions help unlock insights you have previously failed to see.

When you find yourself in a situation where your emotions are particularly intense, stop and ask what you need to learn about the situation at hand. The insights you receive when you open up to the information can change the course of your life. Your life will become that much more calm and peaceful because you have gained the understanding the pain was designed to get you to see.

Trigger points can turn your stumbling blocks into insights if you allow them to teach you their lessons.

It Isn't About You!!!

It happens to everyone. A friend or coworker says or does something hurtful, and we stand back wondering what we did to merit such action. We may end up feeling sad or angry or, at times, just confused. Sometimes it upsets us so much we say or do things we regret later. There is one thought that keeps me sane at times like these: it is not about me!

People act on what they know. If you grow up in a family that speaks their minds and fights all the time, it will feel natural to treat everyone else that way. Years ago, I had a coworker that was quite aggressive. If she didn't like something you were doing she would let you know in no uncertain terms. Many days I felt like I was in the crosshairs because we were so different. The funny thing was, another girl began working with us that was exactly like her. While the rest of us didn't really care to hang out with either one of them, they became fast friends. They fought and bickered between themselves, and that was okay because that's what they were used to.

I encounter many people in my customer service job who are abrupt and difficult. Sometimes they are just in a hurry and need help finding something so they can be on their way again. Sometimes they are not feeling well, but junior needs khakis for his band concert tomorrow night, so there they are at the store when they would rather just be in bed. There are many other reasons they might act in disrespectful ways. I don't take it personally. Being sensitive and a good listener, I can usually feel they are in pain. I do what I can to help, often times making them feel a little better.

There are occasions where something I do seems to send someone else over the edge. This is because my action has reminded them of something someone else has done to them in the past and it triggers an automated sort of response. I call these trigger points, and when I encounter them personally I know there is an issue I need to look at and work on. Understand that most people are not ready to deal with their issues and will act out on them instead.

What I try to remember is this: people act out for many different reasons, and it is not about me. It is really all about them! It is their experience, their issue, their life! It is not right or wrong. It is part of their learning experience and something they are dealing with in the moment of now.

Don't make their problem about you. You have enough to deal with without taking on additional responsibility. The only person you can truly fix is yourself. Respect them enough to allow them to fix their own problems. It isn't about you!!!

Using Emotional Triggers To Fix What Ails You

Something happens, and an emotion comes raging to the surface. Fear. Sadness. Anger. Depression. Jealousy. Pain. Irritation. The feelings are intense and your body reacts accordingly. Many times you have reacted on impulse to such emotions without thinking about potential consequences. What is going on and how can you deal with these feelings in constructive ways?

Emotions are your body's way of trying to get you to pay attention to information your intuitive self is trying to bring into consciousness. In other words, strong feelings indicate there is something you need to understand. I personally like to call them trigger points, because they are so strong they trigger a response (whether controlled or not).

Over the years, I have learned to pay attention to these trigger points. When strong emotion is triggered, I begin to look at the situation and ask questions. The first thing I usually ask the Universe is "What is this emotion trying to tell me?" Other questions are things like, "What specific emotion is coming up?" and "What is it about this situation that upsets me?" The right questions will help you focus in on what is bothering you.

Sometimes the fix is relatively simple. For example, some people consistently rub me the wrong way. When I ask the question, "What about this situation is bothering me?" I usually discover the other person is being hypocritical or I don't like the fact this person is forcing his/her beliefs on myself or others. As I begin to realize I don't have to accept the person's actions and allow them to change how I believe and behave, many times these emotions will be resolved and the emotion no longer comes up.

At other times, the information that is trying to surface is much more complex. For example, a coworker once did something that triggered a rage so bad in me I overreacted in the extreme--cutting her totally out of my life as though she did not exist. When I finally calmed down, I began to ask questions. "Why was my reaction to this coworker so extreme?" When I asked that question, I had a flashback to another lifetime. In that past lifetime, she had taken advantage of me so badly that I became a prisoner. My body was reacting to her same energy in this lifetime, and I knew I was not going to allow her to take advantage of me anymore. Interestingly enough, once I recognized the past life connection, the emotion totally went away and I never had a problem with it again. I just knew I needed to be up front with this coworker and tell her "No" when she wanted me to do something special for her.

Your body is always connected and aware of things your conscious is not. Listen to it when it speaks to  you through your emotions. You may just discover a whole new world of information that will not only change your life but also fix up every problem that ails you!!!
